I had locked it and put it in “lost mode,†giving my partner’s number to contact so as I would have it returned. The owner demanded I “reward†him with £20 and meet up to arrange the swap. I informed him that the police had been notified and that I knew the phone was disabled so would be no use to him, that I have the phone’s location and his own number, so advised he take it to the police station so I could collect it.

07418338741 - This phone number is linked to a group of scammers looking to defraud people who try to sell unwanted items on websites like gumtree etc. They will text you and ask to reply on an email address (in my case it was: [email protected], so avoid that as well). They will say they are willing to buy whatever you are selling and ask you to take the add down straightaway. You will then get some sob-story about why he/she can't come in person to buy whatever you are selling. In my case it was a 'old lady' wanting to buy a mountain bike for her adult son, but she was deaf and in a wheelchair and so would have to send a 'courier' to collect it. Furthermore, she wouldn't pay in cash, only via PayPal on deliver, and would need my bank details. In all it's a pretty shoddy scam, but I thought I'd post this because (sadly) there's always someone out there who is daft enough to fall for this type of thing...otherwise the scammers wouldn't do it. 2019-02-09 15:09:32
